In its first seaside edition, the LUNAR festival presented nearly 6,000 minutes of digital art. In the evenings between August 1 and 4, the resorts of Tsarevo, Lozenets, Ahtopol and Sinemorets shone under the lights of eight works. Especially for its first summer edition, LUNAR: “Sea of Lights” transformed with art not only the urban environment, but also some of the most captivating natural landmarks located on the seashore. The event was organized by the Municipality of Tsarevo and MP-STUDIO.
“I am happy that we hosted the first summer edition of the LUNAR festival – an event that brings light not only in a literal but also in a symbolic sense. Through art, we emphasized the beauty of our Black Sea coast, and the implementation of an event of such a scale supports our strategy to attract new audiences and to strengthen the region as a cultural and tourist destination with a vision for the future. I believe that culture should be accessible to everyone and I am happy that the residents and guests of Tsarevo, Lozenets, Ahtopol and Sinemorets were part of this unforgettable experience,” said Marin Kirov, Mayor of Tsarevo Municipality.
The festival program included various light works – video mapping projections on the facade of the Georgi Kondolov Community Center in Tsarevo and on the Stone Ships rocks in Sinemorets, an immersive projection on the Lighthouse Bar beach in Ahtopol, and light installations in Lozenets Park.
“Over the past four years, LUNAR has made a significant contribution to the development of the cultural scene in Sofia – we managed to present 73 artists from all over the world, who created more than 100 light works. In addition, the event also has a great impact on tourism and the economic development of the city. That is why I am extremely happy that this summer the festival presented its first seaside edition, namely on the Southern Black Sea Coast and intertwined with nature in a very inspiring way, so as to attract even more visitors to this beautiful part of our country,” shared Marin Petkov, founder of LUNAR and MP-STUDIO.
The organizer and main artistic team behind the project is the Bulgarian visual effects studio MP-STUDIO. The summer edition of LUNAR: “Sea of Lights” is being implemented in partnership with the Municipality of Tsarevo. The event will be held with the support of the Ministry of Tourism, Black Sea Gold, BRITA, Grand Resort Pavel Banya, iBank, Insaoil, MASTERHAUS, Ocean Investments, Office1, Pobeda AD, information campaign Change the Picture by Philip Morris Bulgaria, Euratec OOD – official importer of Škoda in Bulgaria and VIP Security.
The festival is realized with the general media support of bTV Media Group. For 25 years, the company has been engaged in the development of Bulgarian culture and actively contributes to the enrichment of public life by creating opportunities for meetings between artists, contemporary art and the audience.
