Kurbas Pro is a creative production studio founded in 2018, based in Ukraine, specializing in developing multimedia content for various shows, projection mappings, VJ, VR, AR, media exhibitions, immersive experiences.
We have collaborated with theaters, art galleries, and musicians to produce video content and revive artworks, as well as for concerts, video clips, and scenography using projection mapping and video art. Our career is rooted in traditional art and theater, so we continue to utilize the techniques and skills gained from this professional background and draw lots of inspiration from cultural heritage.

What attracted you to participate in the Urban Pulse competition?
We were drawn by the scale and immersiveness.

What was the main inspiration behind your concept?
We found inspiration in urban communication schemes (utility lines, transport maps) which led us toward geometric floristry and the motion of city traffic in our animation approach. And another source of inspiration was the mosaic, which was once a part of the city, as this genre resonates with us.
If the audience closes their eyes after seeing your show, which scene or moment would you most like them to remember?
The most memorable moment can be one of the flourishing scene or the mosaic scene, or the starry flowering night.

What has been the most technically challenging aspect of creating a work for such a large-scale outdoor immersive projection environment?
The high-res renders (that is technically the most critical moment by itself) under strict deadlines don’t allow the freedom of search and experiment, there’s no room for drafts, so everything has to be made perfect on the first try.
The event is also a celebration of Sofia Day. In your opinion, what is most important for a city to be or to offer to its people? And what would be your wish for Sofia?
The most important thing a city can offer a person is growth and opportunity. Beyond that, safety within the city and protected critical infrastructure capable of sustaining life during collapses and force majeure have now become no less important today.
