todaySeptember 15, 2026

Background

The Czech studio Metanoia Creatives creates video mapping, light installations, and digital animations. Their projects have been showcased and recognized at international festivals and competitions in Dublin, Shanghai, Tokyo, Prague, and Pécs, while their diverse experience allows them to freely blend classical and digital techniques. For the Urban Pulse competition, they have created a work inspired by the rhythm, color, and constant transformation of the urban environment.

What attracted you to participate in the Urban Pulse competition?
Since we had the opportunity to visit Sofia it’s definitely the scale and the presence of Largo.

What was the main inspiration behind your concept?
The main inspiration was the ever-changing nature of cities and urban environments, translated into shifts of color.

If the audience closes their eyes after seeing your show, which scene or moment would you most like them to remember?
For us, it’s not really a scene or a moment that is significant, but we want the audience to remember the overall feeling of being surrounded by rhytm, color and movement.

What has been the most technically challenging aspect of creating a work for such a large-scale outdoor immersive projection environment?
With a scale like this it is difficult to anticipate the speed of the animation beforehand because when you watch the piece on a computer screen it is a completely different experience.

The event is also a celebration of Sofia Day. In your opinion, what is most important for a city to be or to offer to its people? And what would be your wish for Sofia?
For us, a city should give its people a sense of belonging, freedom, and possibility, and our wish for Sofia is for it to keep growing while preserving the unique character and energy that make it feel alive.
