Competition: Create a Static Artwork for the Facade of the National Palace of Culture

For the second time the competition “eXperience by eMAG. Dream, create and inspire” gives an opportunity to three artists to create artwork on one of the most popular buildings in Sofia

The online trading platform eMAG continues its successful partnership with the LUNAR Festival of Lights and gives three Bulgarian artists a chance to show their works on the facade of one of the emblematic capital buildings – the National Palace of Culture. The works of the winners will be part of a static 3D mapping and will be part of the program of the festival, between 11-14 May 2023.

In support of Bulgarian talents and the opportunities that modern technologies provide not only for business development, but also for art and urban environment, eMAG organizes the competition eXperience by eMAG: Dream, Create and Inspire. Until April 30, 2023, all interested artists can submit their artworks for the light transformation of the National Palace of Culture. Three will be the artworks that will be awarded – they should combine creativity, evoke emotions, tell stories and demonstrate skillful handling of the building facade and capabilities of the 3D mapping technology.

The three topics of the competition are:

• eMotions – creative input on topics emotions, innovation, new opportunities
• eXplore – creative input on topic searching (literally or figuratively) and that finding “your thing” has never been easier, having in mind diversity, choice, functionalities
• eFuture – creative input on topics technologies as part of everyday life and innovations, which make dreams come true – modernity, urban environment, technologies, green innovations and social responsibility, education

Participation:

• Documents for participation, rules of the competition, technical requirements for the applications, as well as instructions for their submission can be found on the website eXperience by eMAG: Dream, Create and Inspire.
• Each artist can participate in more than one category.
• In addition to the opportunity to show their creativity on one of the most iconic buildings in Sofia, eMAG also provides special prizes for the three winners – a voucher worth BGN 1,500 each, which can be used for products offered by eMAG on the platform.
• The deadline for application is April 30, 2023*. The artworks will be judged by a five-member jury, and the winners will be announced on May 05, 2023.

*Artworks submitted after the deadline will be disqualified.

Participation in the competition is free of charge. One winner will be chosen in each of the categories.

Winner in category eMotions in 2022 : Paulina Geneva

One of the winners in the competition last year – Antonio Yotsov – was chosen to participate with his project in the Festival of Lights in Berlin, with his work “Simply Magical”, which illuminated a facade in the oldest district of the city – Nikolaiviertel. The pilot edition of the festival in Sofia last year was visited by over half a million people, and the light installation under the auspices of eMAG sparked not only the imagination of the young artists, but also many positive reactions from the audience.
