Between August 7 and 10, one of the largest cultural events in Bulgaria – the LUNAR festival, will hold its second seaside edition. LUNAR: “Sea of Lights” will transform five resorts on the Southern Black Sea coast into a coastal stage for light art: Tsarevo, Lozenets, Ahtopol, Sinemorets, joined by Varvara this year. The festival is organized by MP-STUDIO and the Tsarevo Municipality and will have completely free access on each of the four evenings, from Friday to Monday, inclusive.
In 2025, Tsarevo Municipality became the first municipality after the capital, where the impressive event presented various types of light art under the open sky. Eight digital artworks became part of the event program, attracting tens of thousands of visitors to the Black Sea resorts. The second edition of LUNAR: “Sea of Lights” will present an even richer and more attractive program, which will include works by artists from Bulgaria and all over the world, created specifically for the beautiful natural and urban spaces located on the seashore.

“I am proud that for the second year, Tsarevo Municipality will host the LUNAR festival – an event that develops the artistic scene, but also makes a great contribution to the image of the country and our tourism. The festival is among the key events on the Southern Black Sea Coast this summer, and this year it will also focus on the beauty of nature in the region. Turning a project of such a scale into a traditional one supports our strategy for attracting new audiences and for strengthening the region as a cultural and tourist destination, with a vision for the future. I am glad that this year we are adding another stop to the light route of all visitors – Varvara,” shared Marin Kirov, Mayor of Tsarevo Municipality.
This year, the first light art festival in Bulgaria, LUNAR, celebrates five years since its establishment. During this period, the event contributed to accelerating the pace of development of the light art scene in Bulgaria and beyond – the LUNAR program presented over 120 light artworks, created by more than 70 authors from all over the world, including some of the most famous artists in this type of art. Annually, the festival attracts over 600 thousand visitors to Sofia, making it the most visited event in the country.

“Last year, the first seaside edition of LUNAR was received extremely warmly by the local community and visitors to the Southern Black Sea Coast. It is exciting for our entire team that we will once again share the magic of the festival in a different way – under the stars, on the seashore. We are preparing an even more inspiring program that will make the natural and cultural treasures located along the LUNAR seaside route shine in a truly unforgettable way,” said Marin Petkov, founder of MP-STUDIO and the LUNAR festival.
The festival is realized with the general media support of bTV Media Group. For more than 25 years, the company has been engaged in the development of Bulgarian culture and actively contributes to the enrichment of public life by connecting artists, contemporary art and the audience.
The event program will be announced soon, and more information and all the latest news about LUNAR can be found on the festival’s website and in Facebook and Instagram.
